It’s been a wild run for the Mingos. With five wins, no losses and no draws in July, you have to think Matt Glaeser is a Coach of the Month frontrunner.

And looking back a bit, the team’s last loss came to USL Championship side Indy Eleven on June 6. Since then, they’ve scored 26 goals and conceded 10. They’ve won the grind-it-out 1-0, they’ve won the 4-3 shootout with a stoppage time winner, they’ve wonin dominating fashion.

Westchester meanwhile have not had a good season so far, but right now they are not in terrible form. They’re unbeaten in three having drawn Omaha, beaten Cosmos 3-0 (yeah it’s Cosmos but still) and drawn AV Alta. That said, they have not yet won a match on the road, managing just two draws and losing seven.

They do have Conor McGlynn, who Ethan figures to be the best player in the league right now. His nine goals has him co-leading the race for the golden boot with Charlotte’s Luis Alvarez, and he’s scored those nine on a team that’s far inferior. Dean Guezen is also always a legit scoring threat.

Not to go all podcaster, but this is a game Madison should win without much trouble — which makes it a classic trap game. Next weekend’s tilt at Boise will be massive, so it might be easy for the boys to come into this one not quite as sharp or ready.

Not to mention this is Madison’s third game in eight days, which always has its own set of challenges.

That said, I have faith in Glaeser’s even keel and the team leaders’ focus. I really believe that at the end of 90 minutes the win streak will have stretched to seven.

Forward Madison have now gone unbeaten in seven games (or had gone seven when we recorded; it’s eight now) and have still not lost at home, the latest win coming Saturday, 3-1 over FC Naples.
